More Romanians chose to travel by train in the first quarter

Romanian railways company CFR Calatori carried  1.75 million more passengers in the first three months of the year, compared to the same period in 2013, reports Agerpres.

As a percentage, the railway passenger traffic increased by 12.4 percent, to over 15.85 million.

During the Easter period, when compared to a usual weekend, the traffic grew by 20 percent for trains traveling to the seaside, and by almost 35 percent for trains traveling to the mountain resorts.

Across the entire rail network, the passenger traffic recorded an increase of 75 percent during Easter holidays this year, when compared to a normal weekend.
