Lending increases for two months in a row in Romania

The local banks’ total loans reached about EUR 48 billion at the end of September, up by EUR 225 million, or 0.6%, compared to the same month last year.

Lending rose by 0.2% over August. It is the first time this year when household and corporate loans increased for two months in a row.

Lending will accelerate in the medium term, after it has stabilized this year, said Andrei Radulescu, senior economist at Banca Transilvania, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.

It will grow by 7.9% next year, 10.5% in 2017, 13.6% in 2018, according to Radulescu.
