Banks, casinos, notaries or lawyers to update Romania's Tax Administration daily

27 March 2015

Banks, casinos, notaries, lawyers and real estate agents will have to announce Romania's Tax Administration ANAF daily about the people and companies that carry out transactions of over EUR 5,000.

The Government has introduced this obligation in the new Fiscal Code draft law, reports local Mediafax.

Banks will need to announce ANAF daily about people who open or close accounts, or transfer amounts from their account of over EUR 5,000.

So far, banks have communicated the list of individuals and companies who open or close accounts only twice a month. They have also sent information, by request, on those who open safe deposit boxes.

The measure will create a database that will help identify tax evasion and will make foreclosures more efficient, according to the Government.
