Alexandrion sells 10% more spirits in Romania

Spirits producer Alexandrion Grup Romania posted a gross turnover of EUR 58.8 million last year, up 10% compared to 2013. It saw a net profit of EUR 1.45 million, up 15% over 2013.

More than half of the gross turnover represented contributions to the state last year, according to company representatives.

“In 2014, we paid taxes of EUR 32.9 million, EUR 4.5 million more than in 2013,” said Nawaf Salameh, founder and president of Alexandrion Grup Romania.

The group’s net turnover amounted to EUR 23.4 million last year, compared to EUR 22.6 million in 2013.

The company, which produced 120 million liters of spirits in its Dealu Mare factory in Romania, exported EUR 1.8 million worth of products, mainly to Spain and Italy, two countries with large communities of Romanian migrants.

The company faced higher excises last year, as well as an increase in the black market for spirits, which reached 90% of the whole spirits market, said Salameh.
