Romanian farmers pay EUR 6.2 mln to insure their crops

Insurance group Groupama Asigurari underwrote last year EUR 6.2 million worth of gross premiums for agriculture insurances.

About 60% of the insured crops represent autumn crops while 40% of them stand for spring crops, reads a statement of the company.

The crops in the West region recorded most damages in the country, worth EUR 1.33 million.

Groupama Asigurari, which is the local branch of the French group Groupama, has over 2,500 customers all over the country.

The French insurer entered the Romanian market in 2007 after it acquired all the stakes in the insurance group BT Asigurari for EUR 100 million.
