Number of insured homes declines in Romania

The number of compulsory home insurance policies (PAD) in Romania reached 1.49 million at the end of July, slightly down compared to June, according to the Pool for Insurance against Natural Disasters (PAID).

Almost three quarters of the insured homes were in the urban areas, whereas only 25.9% in the villages, reports local Agerpres. Bucharest recorded most PAD policies (over 307,000), followed by Timis county (over 62,000) and Constanta (over 55,000). Salaj is the county with the lowest number of insured homes (just over 5,400 policies).

Romania has 8.5 million homes, according to the last census.
