Romania's communication company resumes EUR 120 mln tender

24 February 2015

The state-owned communications company Societatea Nationala de Radiocomunicatii (SNR) will resume the tender to create a network of antennas worth EUR 120 million. This would allow operators to provide digital TV services.

SNR didn’t receive any offer by February 20, when the initial deadline expired. The company has postponed the deadline for receiving offers four times.

Gabriel Grecu, general director with SNR, said that bidders have shown interest, but they have requested several times to extend the deadline, so they can receive the needed financing from banks, reports local Mediafax.

Romania should transition to digital television by June 2015, but Grecu said that Romania would recover the delay caused by postponing the tender.
