French President Francois Hollande to visit Romania this year
France’s President Francois Hollande confirmed he would visit Romania this year after a meeting with Romania’s Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos in Paris, according to Agerpres newswire.
The Romanian PM made an official visit to France on Wednesday, January 20, and met President Hollande and French Prime Minister Manuel Valls.
The Romanian and French officials talked about ways to strengthen the economic relations between the two countries. Several French companies are very interested in using and developing the laser facility at Magurele in Romania, according to Ciolos.
Ciolos and Hollande also discussed the need for better border control at the European Union’s external borders and Romania’s desire to enter the Schengen area, and the situation in the Moldova Republic and Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting, Dacian Ciolos relaunched the invitation that President Klaus Iohannis made to President Francois Holland when he visited France last year to return the visit. Hollande said he would visit Romania this year.
