Bucharest metro line 4 to be opened at the end of March

22 February 2017

The deadline for opening the traffic on Bucharest’s Metro line 4 remains the end of this March, transport minister Razvan Cuc said yesterday after a meeting with Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu.

The segment Parc Bazilescu - Lac Straulesti, which is the last phase of Metro line 4, will be opened at the end of next month, reports local Agerpres. The initial deadline was December last year, but was extended for the first quarter of this year. The specialty committees of the Bucharest metro operator Metrorex still needed to verify the work.

The segment’s total length amounts to 2.1 kilometers, and the project’s total value is EUR 252.4 million. The new metro stations will be Laminorului and Straulesti, part of the metro line connecting the Bucharest railway station Gara de Nord to the Straulesti lake area in Northern Bucharest.

The metro station Laminorului is located in the Bucharest neighborhood Straulesti, at the crossroads of the Laminorului street and the Bucurestii Noi boulevard. The area has a high real estate development potential.
