Zara opens high street store in Romania's Sibiu

07 March 2012

Spanish fashion retailer Zara opened its 18th store in Romania earlier today ( March 7 ) in the city of Sibiu, in central Romania. Inditex, the group that runs Zara stores, chose a 1,500 sqm location for the high street store in Sibiu, its second such unit in the country, after one in Pitesti. Zara's other stores are located in shopping centers. The Bucharest Zara, within the Unirea Shopping Center, has a 'quasi high street' concept, with its direct street entrance.

The building hosting Zara's store in Sibiu, on Nicolae Balcescu St., is owned by a subsidiary of BCR and has an underground level, a ground floor and two floors, and will undergo renovation. DTZ Echinox acted as intermediary for the lease.

Inditex recently opened stores under the Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius and Pull and Bear brands in the Electroputere shopping center in Craiova.

Zara had sales of EUR 58 million in 2010 in Romania, up from EUR 45.8 million in 2009. Its profit last year was of EUR 11.5 million.
