Romanian president wants group of investment advisers to cancel red tape and fear of decision

05 September 2011

Romanian president Traian Basescu wants to organize a group of professionals who would advise on investments that currently require the approval of several people from different ministeries, many of which are afraid to give their ok as they fear the National Anti-Corruption Department (DNA) in the country. “It is too much involvement from too many people when it comes to investments. And they all fear the DNA, because it is fashionable to say: <<rather then being questioned about DNA on why I signed, I'd better not sign>> . We have to rapidly create a group of elite professionals, 20 to 30 people who would be responsible of approving investments,” said Basescu, who attended the Democrat Liberal Party's Youth School this week-end.
