Impressionism auction to sell masterpieces from the private collections of well known Romanian writers

The Artmark Impressionism and Post-Impressionism auction on September 25 at the Romanian Athenaeum will include three paintings from the private collections of famous Romanian writers.

The piece de resistance is the painting "Fetita in alb” (Girl in White-oil on board, 40 x 35 cm) signed by Tonitza, which was part of the poet Lucian Blaga's collection. Its price is estimated between EUR 60,000 and 120,000.

The poet Octavian Goga was also an art collector and had Eustatiu Stoenescu's “Lampa de la Draghiceni” ( The Lamp from Draghiceni- oil on board, 59 x 41 cm) in his collection. The value is estimated between EUR 15,000 and EUR 25,000.

The third well-known work is "La amiaza” (At noon), signed by artist Alexander Ciucurencu (oil on board, 18 x 26 cm). Painted in 1903, the landscape (in picture) belonged to the poet Eugen Barbu, bidding will open at EUR 3000 - EUR 5000.

The auction also includes works by impressionists and post-impressionists Nicolae Grigorescu, Francis Şirato Ion Tuculescu, Nicolae Dărăscu, Samuel Mutzner, Max Arnold and Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna among others.
