Romania’s wholesale trade turnover, except for the trade with cars and motorcycles, rose by 6.9% as gross series in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2015.

The wholesale trade of other machinery, equipment and supplies went up by 24.3% year-on-year, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). The wholesale trade with food, beverages and tobacco increased by 12.8% whereas the non-specialized wholesale trade grew by 12.7%.

The intermediation activities in the wholesale trade went down by 0.8% during this period compared to the same period of 2015.

In March, the wholesale trade turnover grew by 8.3% year-on-year.
