UEFA U-21 Euro Championship: Which fixtures will be played in Romania?

The UEFA U-21 Euro Championship is set to kick off in Romania, and fans are eagerly awaiting the thrilling fixtures that will take place across various stadiums in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. 

The tournament, showcasing the best young talents in European football, promises to deliver exciting matches and intense competition between June 21 and July 8, 2023. Four Romanian referees, namely Horaţiu Mircea Feşnic, Valentin Avram, Alexandru Cerei, and Andrei Chivulete, will officiate some of the matches.

On Wednesday, June 21, Group B will see Ukraine go head-to-head with Croatia at the Giulești Stadium in Bucharest. Later in the evening, the host nation, Romania, will face off against Spain at the iconic Steaua Stadium the capital city.

The following day, Group D will take center stage as Norway clashes with Switzerland at the CFR Cluj Stadium in Cluj-Napoca. This will be followed by an exciting match between France and Italy at the Cluj Arena.

As the group stage progresses, the excitement continues to build. On Saturday, June 24, Romania will once again be in action, this time facing Ukraine at the Steaua Stadium. In the evening, Spain will lock horns with Croatia at the Giulești Stadium.

Group D will resume on Sunday, June 25, with Switzerland taking on Italy at the Cluj Arena. The action-packed day will conclude with Norway battling against France at the CFR Cluj Stadium.

As the tournament enters its final stages, the intensity rises. On Tuesday, June 27, Croatia will face Romania at the Steaua Stadium, while Spain takes on Ukraine at the Giulești Stadium.

The group stage will conclude on Wednesday, June 28, with Switzerland playing against France at the CFR Cluj Stadium, and Italy facing Norway at the Cluj Arena.

The quarter-finals are scheduled for Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2. The winners and runners-up from Group B and Group D will compete for a spot in the semi-finals. Giulești Stadium will host the first quarter-final match, while Cluj Arena will witness the second.

Finally, on Wednesday, July 5, the tournament reaches its climax with the highly anticipated semi-final match between the winners of the respective quarter-finals. Steaua Stadium in Bucharest will set the stage for this thrilling encounter.
