The May 1 mini-break in Romania: the most popular destinations

27 April 2015

Most of the Romanians who will spend the May 1 mini-break in the country are expected to head to the seaside this weekend, with Mamaia being the most popular destination.

According to estimations, the occupancy rate in Mamaia will reach 80%. The best-selling hotels are those located in the north-central region, according to Aurelian Marin, president of the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania (ANAT).

“This year, the sales for the May 1 mini-break will be 10% higher, also because they started earlier. Mamaia is by far the most purchased destination, especially because all hotels are open,” said Marin, cited by local Agerpres.

More to the south, tourists are expected to go to Vama Veche and Eforie Nord seaside resorts.

For a 2-star hotel in Mamaia, tourists have to pay between RON 60 and RON 80 per person per night, but prices can go up to RON 200 at a 4-star hotel. In southern seaside resorts, the tariffs are 25% lower.
