New in local tourism: all inclusive cruises on Romania's Danube for local tourists

27 April 2015

A Swiss company and Romanian tour operator Karpaten Outgoing will organize 7-night all inclusive cruises on a portion of the Romanian Danube, aimed at Romanian tourists.  This is a first on the local tourism market.

For this project, the two companies rented a ship with 260 places. It also has two panoramic restaurants, lounge, a bar, a shop, a hair salon and a relaxation area. The first cruise will start on May 9 and the last one will be organized on September 12.

“For foreigners, such cruises have been available since the 70s. Over 120,000 foreigners come annually in Romania for cruises on the Danube, but this product wasn’t sold for Romanian tourists. We believe the Romanian market is ready for this kind of holidays,” said Alexandru Marginean, director Karpaten Outgoing, cited by local Mediafax.

The cruise starts in Fetesti, where tourists are taken by bus from Bucharest. It will then make several stops in both the Romanian and Ukrainian sides of the Danube Delta, as well as in Tulcea in Romania and Izmail in Ukraine.

“Children travel for free while a package of seven optional trips for an adult costs EUR 99 per person,” said Marginean.

Karpaten Outgoing is part of Kerpaten group owned by Gheorghe Marginean.
