Wizz Air links Transylvania city to Tel Aviv

08 May 2018

Low-cost airline Wizz Air announced it would operate a new route from Sibiu, a city in the famous region of Transylvania, to Tel Aviv starting July 14. The flights will be operated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Tel Aviv will be the first destination outside Europe available from Sibiu International Airport.

In June, Wizz Air will expand its operations in Sibiu by adding a second Airbus A320 aircraft to its local fleet. It will also launch five new routes from Sibiu, to Copenhagen, Brussels Charleroi, Paris Beauvais, Basel and Frankfurt, and will increase the frequency of four other flights.

The total investment in Sibiu will thus grow to nearly USD 200 million and the local Wizz team will be made up of more than 70 direct employees, the company said.

Last year, Wizz Air carried over 255,000 passengers to and from Sibiu.
