Summer snowfall covers part of Romania’s highest mountain road

The temperatures dropped sharply in Romania on Sunday, July 16, falling below zero on the highest road in the country, Transalpina. Thus, snow covered part of the beautiful road, between km 34 and km 37. Although the employees of the Ranca district intervened on the road, the drivers are advised to travel carefully on this road, or even avoid it until deemed safe. At an altitude of 2,145 meters, the national road DN 67C, also known as Transalpina, is the highest altitude road in Romania, offering amazing views. The road reopened for summer traffic at the end of May. Meanwhile, Transfagarasan, Romania’s most famous high- altitude road, also reopened for traffic on June 16, earlier than in previous years.
