In 2018, some 32% of the companies will pay bonuses in cash to their employees while 20% will give them gift vouchers, according to a poll conducted by local recruiting platform bestjobs.ro among 366 small, medium and large-sized companies. Additionally, 15.5% of the companies will give their employees in-kind bonuses. Separately, three out of five employers will organise Christmas parties. Some 10% of the employers give presents to their employees’ kids, and a similar share give their employees extra days off. When it comes to employees’ expectations, most of them (58%) prefer cash benefits in the form of a bonus, while 24% say they would prefer free days during holidays to spend with their families and friends. Even though Christmas parties remain a constant tradition among companies, employees are no longer interested in this type of benefit; only for 4% of respondents the Christmas party is among their preferences.
