Love in the time of protests: Man asks girlfriend to marry him during anti-Govt. protest in Bucharest

The 13th day of anti-Government protests in Romania has turned into a beautiful memory for two of the protesters in Bucharest. On Sunday evening, one of the protesters in Bucharest’s Victoriei Square decided to propose to his girlfriend. He used the megaphone to have the whole crowd in the square witness his proposal. “In front of this country and the square, I ask you to be my wife from this moment until forever,” the young man said. And the answer was the one he expected: “Yes!” The protesters around the happy couple started applauding and blowing their vuvuzelas after the girl accepted the proposal.

Some 50,000 people gathered in Bucharest’s Victoriei Square on Sunday, for the 13th consecutive day of protests against the Government led by Sorin Grindeanu. They used their phones’ flashlights to lit up colored pieces of paper and create the Romanian flag. Protests were also staged in other Romanian cities and abroad, where thousands chanted slogans against the Government. The protests even reached the red carpets of the Berlinale and BAFTA film festivals.
