French construction materials producer Saint-Gobain is upgrading and expanding its production line for stone wool at the Isover plant in Ploiesti, some 60 km away from the capital.

The expanded line will be operational beginning with the second semester of 2019. Its upgrade will increase the plant’s production capacity to 30,000 tons per year and expand the range of products available on the local and regional markets.

The move will also allow the Saint-Gobain group to consolidate its position on the insulation materials market, while meeting a growing demand from the Romanian market and the SEE region.

Saint-Gobain Isover has been present in Romania since 1997, with two production lines at its Ploiesti plant. One line produces glass fiber mineral wool, and is currently under modernization. It is set to become operational in July 2018. The other line produces stone wool.
