Renault launches production of new engine in Romania

French automotive producer Renault started the production of a new engine, petrol-based IG-T100 with a capacity of 1 litre, at its Romanian subsidiary Dacia. It is an engine with three in-line cylinders that deliver 74kW power at 5,000 rpm. The engine is currently used for the Nissan Micra model only. “The production of the new engine started in December. We are talking about a new engine for the Renault-Nissan Alliance. It uses a new technology by which the piston's "shirt" is sprayed, so it's lighter and smoother allowing for a lower friction and a more efficient cooling,” said Christophe Dridi, General Manager Automobile Dacia and General Manager Group Renault Romania, according to local Ziarul Financiar. It is for the first time in the past seven years that Renault begins in Romania the production of a new engine. Previously, the production of the 0.9 TCe engine was launched in autumn 2012.
