For the first time in two decades, the number of employees in Romania reached 4.9 million, and will most certainly exceed 5 million in 2018, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS), local Ziarul Financiar reported. Last time Romania had 4.9 million employees was in 1998, while the lowest number was of 4 million in 2011. The 4.9 million employees recorded in February 2018 follow a massive migration flow, with over 3 million Romanians having left the country to work abroad.
