New vehicle sales in Romania, up 28% in the first four months

New vehicle sales reached 15.860 units in April 2018, making this the best April in the last nine years, according to the Car Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA). Overall, new vehicle sales reached 51,853 units in the first four months, up 28% over the same period of last year. Passenger car sales increased by almost 35%, to 43,131 units, while commercial vehicle sales advanced by 2% to 8,722 units. Dacia, Volkswagen and Ford recorded the highest vehicle sales in the first four months, namely some 45% of the whole market. Ecologic vehicle sales reached over 1,000 units, namely a market share of 2.3% of the total passenger car sales as electric car sales increased fivefold and hybrid car sales were up 52% compared to the first four months of last year.
