Mega Image reaches almost 600 units at end-2017

Mega Image, one of the biggest supermarket chains in Romania, accelerated its expansion in the last weeks of 2017 and ended the year with 596 units. The retailer opened 69 new stores in 2017, 21 of which were inaugurated in December. “2017 was a good year, with lots of challenges that helped us develop and meet the proposed objectives. The year’s biggest success was entering the retail market in Cluj-Napoca,” said Mega Image general manager Vassilis Stavrou. He added that the company consolidated its leading position in Bucharest by increasing the number of Mega Image supermarkets and Shop&Go proximity stores. The retailer also launched its own online store, mega-image.ro, after several years of partnership with eMAG, the leader of the local online retail sector. In December, Mega Image also launched a new store concept, Shop&Go-Mega Apetit, based on ready meals, which mainly sells hot or cold prepared food.
