Romania's industrial production reaches best growth pace in ten years

Romania’s industrial production went up by 7.7% in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Institute (NS). It was the highest growth pace recorded in the last ten years. The result foresees an excellent year for the local industry. In the first half of this year, industry grew by 7.3% year-on-year, with a 23% share in the GDP. It contributed by 1.7 percentage points to the 5.8% economic growth. The manufacturing industry ranks first, with a 8.9% growth, whereas the mining industry and energy, gas and water production are recovering. In the manufacturing industry, strong value-added areas are advancing. The electrical equipment manufacturing went up by 28% in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year whereas the manufacture of machinery and equipment rose by 30% year-on-year.
