Enel could open over 700 charging stations for electric vehicles in Romania

Italian energy group Enel could invest some EUR 15 million in the next 3-4 years in a network of charging stations for electric cars in Romania. The group will announce its concrete plans in November this year. The EUR 15 million investment budget could allow the Italian group to open over 700 charging stations locally, according to Ziarul Financiar estimates, local Mediafax reported. The company won’t focus only in the areas where it has electricity distribution operations, namely Southern Muntenia, Dobrogea and Banat, but targets a national coverage. “You will be able to drive from North to South and from East to West with an electric car,” said Francesco Venturini, manager of Enel X, the group’s smart solutions division. Enel recorded revenues of EUR 614 million in Romania, in the first half of this year, up by 11% compared to the same period of 2017, according to the group’s half-year report. The group has electricity distribution operations, covering 2.8 million local consumers, electricity supply operations as well as renewable energy production. Its portfolio of wind and solar parks in Romania has an installed capacity of 534 MW.
