The Chamber of Deputies adopted a bill establishing October 10 as the national day of Romanian agri-food products. The bill passed on June 13 with 266 votes in favor and three abstentions.

According to an amendment adopted in the Agriculture Commission, the Romanian agri-food products are the products obtained on the national territory from basic raw materials coming from Romanian farms, reports local News.ro. Moreover, these products have the Romanian flag printed on the label.

The explanatory memorandum states that the adoption of this bill will have a positive effect on agricultural producers. Moreover, the bill will encourage the national agricultural production for the Romanian consumers, as well as for traders. The producers will present for this new national day fresh, quality products, coming directly from local sources, thus competing with imported products.

The Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making body in this case.
