Two paintings by Romanian artist Adrian Ghenie sold for a total of over USD 5.3 million at Christie’s Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in New York, on Tuesday, November 15. The Bridge, a painting dated 2015, was auctioned for more than USD 3.94 million. The artwork was estimated at USD 1.5 – 2.5 million. The second Adrian Ghenie painting sold the same evening is Flight into Egypt. The artwork had an estimated price of USD 800,000 – USD 1.2 million but was sold for more than USD 1.38 million. Adrian Ghenie, which is one of the most appreciated young artists in the world, has set a new personal record in early October this year, after selling Nickelodeon for USD 9 million at the Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Auction organised by Christie’s in London.
