RO President to meet French counterpart while in Paris for opening of joint culture season

Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis will make an official visit to France next week, on November 27 – 28, occasioned by the opening of the France – Romania cultural season. While in France, Iohannis will meet President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.

Iohannis will attend, on November 27, the concert commemorating those fallen in the First World War and will visit the exhibition A l’Est, la guerre sans fin – 1918-1923, which includes works on Romania and the mission of general Henri Mathias Berthelot.

The launch of the France – Romania season will take place at the Pompidou Center, in the presence of presidents Iohannis and Macron. The two presidents will visit the Brâncuşi Workshop, the exhibition dedicated to the Romanian blouse ia in the work of painters Henri Matisse and Theodor Pallady, as well as the exhibitions of works by Gherasim Luca, Mihail Olos, Andrei Cădere and Adrian Ghenie, which open a contemporary Romanian art season at the Beaubourg Center.

Afterwards, Iohannis and Macron will hold official talks at the Élysée Palace. Among the topics of discussion are the bilateral relations, the strategic partnership, the role of the Romanian community in France, and other EU-related themes, in the context of Romania’s upcoming Presidency of the EU Council.

On November 28, Iohannis will meet with representatives of the Romanian community in France.

The Season, a broad project of public, cultural and economic diplomacy, runs in France from November 28, 2018 to April 5, 2019 and in Romania from April 18 to July 14 of next year. Theater, dance, music, cinema, literature, visual arts, and gastronomy are some of the areas covered by events held as part of the Season.
