Canadian PM Trudeau sends congratulations message on Romanian Blouse Day

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has sent a congratulatory message to the Association of Moldovans in Ottawa- Gatineau on the occasion of the Romanian Blouse Day, Digi24.ro reported.

The Romanian Blouse Day, which celebrates the traditional blouse Ia, is marked on June 24.

“Renowned for its colorful patterns and intricate, hand-made embroideries, the Romanian blouse is worn proudly on this day as a symbol of the Romanian identity,” Trudeau said in his message.

The Prime Minister also says in the letter that diversity is Canada’s biggest strength and commends the Association of Moldovans in Ottawa- Gatineau for “preserving and promoting their culture and heritage.”

An estimated 192,000 Canadians of Romanian origin lived in the Montreal and Toronto areas in 2013, according to data from the Embassy of Canada to Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova. Romanians will be able to travel visa-free to Canada starting December 1 of this year.
