Two airports in Romania receive EUR 5 million funding for further development

The Government has allotted a combined RON 24 million (some EUR 5 million) for investments at the Baia Mare International Airport, in western Romania, and at the Delta Dunarii Airport in Tulcea, in the southern part of the country.

The airport in Baia Mare received RON 15 million (EUR 3.2 million) to expand and modernize its runway, Profit.ro reported. The airport has been closed since 2015, when it announced the start of investment works to the runway. The boarding and landing platforms were to be modernized as well.

At the same time, the airport in Tulcea was allotted RON 9.2 million (EUR 1.9 million) to continue the investments and cover several current expenses.

The funds were requested by the local authorities and will be granted from the Government’s budget reserve fund.
