Young people electrocuted during pedal boat ride on Romania’s Tarnita Lake

A simple pedal boat ride ended tragically on Monday evening, August 29. Eight young people were electrocuted during a pedal boat ride on Tarnita Lake in Cluj county, and one of them died. According to a witness cited by local Mediafax, an electric engine that powered the boat's tow rope fell into the water and electrocuted the young people. One of them died, and the rest were taken to the hospital. According to hospital representatives, their health condition is stable. Gheorghe Ioan Vuşcan, Cluj county prefect, said that, from what he learned, the eight victims were part of a group of teenagers from Zalau who rented a lake cottage. The cottage has a fishing pier and a pedal boat. The Police opened an in rem investigation in this case, for murder and bodily harm by negligence.
