Austrian group Voestalpine buys factory in Timisoara

Austrian group Voestalpine has acquired the Barum Technik factory in Timisoara, Western Romania, which has been active since 1994. The plant will now operate under the Voestalpine Rotec Coating name and will hire 160 people.

The transaction was carried out through Voestalpine Rotec, a producer of precision steel tube products.

Barum Technik specializes in the electrostatic painting of metal components. Barum recorded a turnover of RON 21.2 million (EUR 4.5 million) last year and a net profit of RON 3 million (EUR 648,000). The factory currently employs 180 people.

20 years ago, Voestalpine also bought the Apcarom Buzau rolling stock producer, with factories today in Arad, Braila, Giurgiu, Magurele.
