Video footage from the 1989 Romanian Revolution to be screened in downtown Bucharest

The Romanian national television TVR will screen key video footage from the Romanian Revolution in Universitatii Square, in downtown Bucharest, starting October 14. The screening will be part of the Roads to 1989. Central and Eastern Europe 1939-1989 exhibition which makes a stop in Bucharest this October, after being organized in Berlin, Brussels, Warsaw, Budapest, and Vienna, according to TVR. The exhibition presents the different ways in which civil liberties were restricted in the countries from the former communist bloc, and the fight to get them back. The images from the Romanian Revolution complete the picture of the fall of communism in Europe, through a film to which public televisions from Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, and Slovenia have also contributed so far. The film is built in three chapters: the fall of totalitarian regimes, the first political actions, and the first free elections in these countries. The exhibition will stay open until October 31 and then it will continue its trip through Europe.
