Transylvania running event, on Forbes’ list of top marathons in Europe

The Transylvania One Hundred marathon in Romania was included on a list of “Top 12 marathons worth the trip to Europe,” published by Forbes.

The local marathon, which will take place on May 20 this year, “is a relatively new race that starts and ends at what is known as Dracula’s castle in the village of Bran in Romania,” reads the event’s presentation in the Forbes story.

“This year will be the fourth edition of this "beginners" endurance run through the mysterious and spectacular wild landscapes of Transylvania. Climbing and descending ancient forest trails, mountain plateaus and windswept ridges, it covers 100 kilometers.”

The marathon in Transylvania also has competitions for 50, 30, and 20 km. Find more about it here.

The other 11 similar events included on the list are the London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Lisbon, Athens, Tuscany, and Mont Saint Michel marathons, the Midnight Sun Marathon in Norway, the Jungfrau Marathon in Switzerland, and the Medoc Marathon in Bordeaux.
