Subway opens its first restaurant in an OMV Petrom gas station in Bucharest

American fast food chain Subway has opened a new restaurant in Bucharest’s Militari neighborhood. The new unit is the first Subway restaurant located in an OMV Petrom gas station in the Romanian capital, but the third such location in the country.

The new restaurant covers 120 sqm, has 28 seats, and will also include a terrace starting spring. The franchise owner, Cristian Dumitru, also manages another restaurant in Bucharest's Mall Vitan.

The unit started serving customers on December 4 last year, but the grand opening took place on January 29. The restaurant is currently opened daily between 07:00 and 23:00, but it will soon stay open 24/7.

Subway entered the Romanian market in 2012 and currently has 26 restaurants in the local market, 12 of them located in Bucharest. The units are operated by franchisees.

The fast food chain was founded in 1965, in Bridgeport, USA and has become the biggest restaurant chain in the world, with over 44,500 locations in 110 countries.
