Teenager carrying defensive grenade spotted on the streets of Baia Mare

A Baia Mare resident alerted the police after seeing a teenager carrying a defensive grenade on one of the city’s streets. Several police officers, as well as a bomb squad from the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) went to area where the 15-year old was seen, and isolated the perimeter, reports local News.ro. The authorities discovered that the grenade was a defensive one, without explosives. “Police officers and SRI representatives went to the scene where they found an inactive defensive grenade, with no powder and no trigger mechanism, in a metal box,” said Florina Metes, spokesperson of Maramures County Police. The SRI bomb squad took the grenade and the metal box to analyze them. Next, the grenade will be handed over to Maramures Police for further investigations.
