Romania's High Court of Cassation and Justice has a new president

Judge Iulia-Cristina Tarcea has been appointed as president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice for the next three years. President Klaus Iohannis signed the decree to appoint her on September 14. She was the only candidate who ran for the office. Tarcea, 54, was the deputy president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice. She became the court interim president after the former president Livia Stanciu was appointed judge at the Constitutional Court. Tarcea graduated from the Faculty of Law within the Bucharest University in 1985. She was a lawyer in the Ialomita bar between 1985 and 1990. Between 2002 and 2004 she worked as state secretary in the Justice Ministry. She became a deputy president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice in 2013. In the 2015 fiscal year, the judge earned over EUR 55,600. editor@romania-insider.com
