Romanian students win four medals at the International Geography Olympiad

Romania’s team won four medals at the 2016 edition of the International Geography Olympiad, including two gold. Maria-Sabina Calisevici from the Stefan Cel Mare Military College in Campulung Moldovenesc and Ioan-Adrian Toma from Unirea National College in Focsani are the gold medalists, according to a statement from the Romanian Ministry of Education. Radu Artiom from the Jean Monnet High School in Bucharest won the silver medal, and Sorina Avadanei from the Calistrat Hogas National College in Neamt got the bronze. The International Geography Olympiad took place in Beijing between August 15 and August 22. More than 180 contestants from 47 countries participated in the event. This good result comes to show once again that the Romanian students are among the smartest in the world. Romania’s teams won a total of 15 medals at this year’s international Olympiads of informatics, math, and physics.
