Romanian President’s autobiographical book censored in China

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis’ first autobiographical book was censored in the Chinese translation. Several parts of the original version of the President’s book Step by Step (Pas cu Pas) were removed, reports local Hotnews.ro. Those parts mentioned how much Iohannis “hated the communists”. At the beginning of the Chinese version, the readers are warned that certain parts have been removed during the publishing process due to the historical and cultural differences between the two countries. One of the paragraphs that have been removed reads that the discipline during the Communist period was “total nonsense”. Iohannis wrote that he can “easily accept the discipline” if he “understands the meaning behind”. The president also mentioned that everybody was listening to Free Europe Radio, which was forbidden during the Communism.
