Some 30,000 Romanian homes to receive subsidies for installing PV panels

Up to 30,000 Romanian household will receive RON 20,000 (EUR 4,200) grants for installing PV panels on their rooftops, the head of the Environment Fund Cornel Brezuica announced, quoted by Adevarul daily.

Those interested will be invited to apply starting mid-March. The grants will be equally shared among the country’s seven development regions. The grants can cover up to 90% of the cost of the equipment.

Romania has received a EUR 115 million grant from the European Commission for this project.

Each equipment must have a capacity of at least 3kWp. But there are several obstacles: the number of firms qualified to install PV panels (around 40 in the whole country) is rather low, and the timing for the disbursement of the money is not clear yet.
