The Romanian Ministry of Justice proposed Mirela Stancu, a judge at the Bucharest Tribunal, to take over the position of judge at the EU General Court. Moreover, the ministry also submitted two reserve proposals, namely Irina Zlătescu and Mircea Criste, local Mediafax reported. These proposals will be forwarded to the Government for approval. The Ministry of Justice launched in early August the selection procedure for the judge who will represent Romania at the EU General Court. There were 18 candidates. To be nominated for the position of judge at the General Court, the candidate must be a person that offers full guarantees of independence and has the capacity required to exercise high judicial functions, according to the Ministry of Justice.
