Romania's forest management company invests EUR 9.3 mln in regeneration works

Romania’s state forest management company Romsilva will invest RON 42.4 million (EUR 9.3 million) this spring to regenerate 10,712 hectares of forests, according to a statement from the company. For this campaign, Romsilva will use 32 million saplings that come from the company’s own nurseries. Moreover, the company will also give one million saplings to the volunteers who are involved in afforestation actions. The 10,712 hectares represent 75.2% of the annual program. Romsilva plans to regenerate a total of 14,252 hectares of state-owned forests this year (8,721 hectares of natural regeneration and 5,531 hectares of artificial regeneration, through afforestation). Over the past 26 years, Romsilva has regenerated naturally and artificially over 540,000 hectares of forest owned by the state. The company manages 3.14 million hectares of forests.
