Romania still expects a contractor to deliver 12 H2-powered railcars
The Railway Reform Authority (ARF) has decided to extend until July 31 the bidding period in the tender for the procurement of the 12 hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric railcars, Profit.ro reported.

The Railway Reform Authority (ARF) has decided to extend until July 31 the bidding period in the tender for the procurement of the 12 hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric railcars, Profit.ro reported.
ARF cancelled the first auction for H2 trains in February as no bidder showed up and launched another process in March. Initially, the offers were expected until May 8, but the deadline was repeatedly postponed.
The project is financed under the Resilience Facility, and the trains should be delivered by August 2026.
The estimated cost of the trains is EUR 500 million-800 million, depending on the period of service and maintenance, including fuel supply (15 years or 30 years).
