RADET debts may leave half of Bucharest without hot water

Almost half of Bucharest’s inhabitants will remain without hot water in the next period, after gas distributor Distrigaz has decided to limit the supply of natural gas to the Bucharest-based thermal energy producer ELCEN. The firm produces electricity and hot water for Bucharest’s residents. The company claims that it’s unable to honor payments to suppliers and distributors of raw materials and services due to its debts. It mainly puts the blame on the energy distributor RADET, which owes it a lot of money, according to ELCEN. The companies in charge of producing and distributing hot water in Bucharest have been accusing each other for this deadlock in the last months. People living in the Drumul Taberei, Militari and Crangasi neighborhoods, as well as in the center of Bucharest, will be affected by this, and will have no hot water. editor@romania-insider.com
