Nearly all prosecutors’ offices in Romania suspend activity to protest slashed pensions

Update: The Superior Council of Magistracy announced on Friday, August 29, that all district courts and tribunals in the country have joined the protest against the project that modifies magistrates’ pensions.

“Tribunals and district courts throughout the country have decided to adopt the same measures established by the 16 courts of appeal, requesting the urgent withdrawal of the draft law regarding the reform of service pensions of magistrates and the cessation of the aggressive campaign against the judicial authority, which seriously affects the rule of law, the rights and freedoms of citizens that can be effectively guaranteed only by an independent judiciary,” CSM said in the press release.
