Increasingly more magistrates denounce "captured judiciary" in Romania fueling street protests

Update: Laura Codruța Kovesi, the chief prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, has also signed the joint public appeal launched by Romanian magistrates expressing solidarity with judges Laurențiu Beșu and Raluca Moroșanu, who were among those raising concerns about problems within the justice system following the Recorder documentary titled "Captured Judiciary." The appeal, initially signed by more than 170 magistrates, has since grown to include around 500 signatories, both judges and prosecutors.

"We publicly express our solidarity with the magistrates who had the courage to denounce the problems and pressures within the justice system. Truth and integrity must not be punished, but protected. Silence is not an option when the values of the profession are at risk," reads the magistrates' message, as cited by Digi24.
