Jail or fines for releasing information from ongoing investigations in Romania

Releasing information from ongoing investigations will be punished with jail or fines in Romania, if several new amendments to the Criminal Code are adopted by the Parliament. A special parliamentary committee led by former justice minister Florin Iordache is currently working on changes to the country’s Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Civil Code. The amendments also include that sentences of up to 3 years in jail for non-violent crimes will be served at home.
