GfK poll: nearly half of Romanians can't make ends meet
One in two Romanians, more precisely 47% of all local consumers, are worried that they will not have enough money to cover their basic expenses, according to an analysis carried out by market research firm GfK.

One in two Romanians, more precisely 47% of all local consumers, are worried that they will not have enough money to cover their basic expenses, according to an analysis carried out by market research firm GfK.
The study reveals a moderate gap compared to the EU average, compared with the much broader objective real income gap.
By comparison, in Europe, on average, more than one in three consumers (37%) face the same problem of making ends meet, according to the market research firm, Ziarul Financiar reported.
GfK data suggest that there is no direct correlation between the purchasing power of a country's inhabitants and their level of concern about money, given that Romanians are less concerned than, for instance, Italians.
By all the economic metrics, Romania is the second poorest country in the EU, after Bulgaria, with an average salary 3-5 times lower than those in some western European countries. At the same time, the local prices are not in line with the wages - but rather with the prices in other markets.
